Free Space Isolator -SMT

Free Space optical isolator is a passive magneto-optic device which transmits light in a certain direction while blocking light in the opposite direction. Faraday Isolators are based on Faraday rotators and Fraday effect and constitute the technologically most important type of optical isoloators. Optical isolator is widely used in applications that to avoid unwanted light feedback.

The simplest type of Polarization-sensitive Faraday Isolators is comprised of a Faraday rotator with magnet, input polarizer and output polarizer. The input polarizer is arranged to act as a filter and only allows linearly polarized light into the rotator. The rotator then rotates the polarization of the input light by 45 degrees and is allowed to exit through the output polarizer.
